Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" is hot. I feel safe when I listen to it. The video's a little boring but just leave it on and listen to it. It's fucking awesome.
I am embarrassed to say I like this song. -_- The video is just awful but the song's catchy.
Do trance people like objectifying women as sex objects? Good Lord, the feminist in me winces when I watch this video.

The Holidays Are Coming Soon
Recently, I've not been in the mood for blogging. Have been spending time with my parents, shooting and meeting the boys. The 1 week holiday is ending soon. I'm so screwed for folio...!
Uni ends in a month. I'll be staying in Melbourne for a bit; perhaps take a road trip with the boys, party and drink till I go crazy? I've never been in Melbourne just for leisure. When I finish my semester, I usually fly off.
I'm also listening to some travel plans from the boys. Apparently, it's Thailand, Kukup and I'll try to fly down to Singapore end of this year. Seems like a lot of money will be spent. Hmm. I'm quite broke at the moment. Maybe I won't join them. Anyway, I'm sure it'll be a good holiday this year end! Traveling means taking more pictures. Yay. I should be more adventurous because I usually just linger in KL. Perhaps it'll be good to travel a bit and see a bit. That way, I won't be that sheltered. I've started meeting Ravin's friends from Singapore and they're a funny bunch of boys. I think traveling plans involve them and I'm usually shy around people but they make me laugh. Maybe I'll go. *Thinks hard*
I hope folio's going to be fine. :(

The Hands
Finally J uploaded her set of pictures from QBH night. I think this picture is awesome! It's just me and a pair of hands.
Well, it looks like the "hands" was telling me a very funny joke. I didn't know whose hands they belonged to but I've figured it out!

Short Update
I've been a little busy, a little pre-occupied. I've had some recent changes in my life. It's sad but yet, it's right. I needed to do it.
Still life bowls shot on black and white film with a little bit of shadow play in the background. I'm in the first group for assessment this semester. So dead and so scared. Only 3 more weeks to go and 20 images more to shoot!!

Fig Love
I cut my hand today; not when I was cooking lamb but when I was washing the knife. So stupid. Luckily, it was a small cut and I can still click the shutter.
A shot for fun. I love photographing vegetables and fruits. Love love love. Figs are gorgeous but so very vulnerable.

Leslie

Leslie is adorable and fun. My first portrait for the semester. Sorry for the color fuck up. The whole Colormatch scan > AdobeRGB photoshop > sRGB save for web. Yucks. But yeah, something along these lines...

Misheru is So Tired
I'm so tired.
I forgot how tiring and stressful university is. Today reminded me again. Almost back-to-back shooting everyday. Tonight, I decided to try flash portrait photography at night. It was drizzling on and off. There were issues about the flash and ambient light. The structure of the telephone booth ( which was the environment ) was fluorescent low lit. Insufficient light and wrong color temperature. Two main issues. What added to the issues were the structure of it and the confined space. And I had only 1 flash to work with.
The two Thai boys were almost freezing to death. I had just found out they had 9.30 class tomorrow morning and still had homework to do. This added to the pressure on top of technical issues.
When I wanted to shoot a composition I was quite confident with; it started raining. We had to take shelter. I had to think fast. It was getting colder, my fingers were feeling number by the minute and I couldn't even cap my lens properly. Again, the two boys looked like they were about to freeze to death. I had 15 minutes to set up and shoot because the last tram ran at 11.46 pm.
I quickly calculated my ratios, test fired my flash and made sure it had the right output. I shot 2 more compositions and called for a wrap. The models looked relieved.
I'm now home, with a cold. I'm really tired, mentally and physically - shooting from last week till today. I'm disappointed at myself. For having blanked out for a bit; for not having good enough technical skills to settle issues. Shooting everything on film; you can't preview your shots. You shoot and you hope you made the right technical calls.
I have studio on Wednesday and shooting cheese for the first time. Cheese melts quickly under our tungsten lights. I have to prep tomorrow. I have to shoot more tomorrow to finish up my roll. I'm disappointed because I don't think I managed to get any good shots tonight. I wasted the Thai boys' time and Ravin's time.
Am I once again being too hard on myself? Creating unnecessary stress? I don't know. I'm just tired. Tomorrow is a new day and we shall take it on. Shit happens and seriously, the road to being a photographer is toughhhh!!
Gambatte, Misheru.
I have to remember to call the photographer! The lecturer's going to think I'm not appreciating the opportunity. I want to assist.. I just need the time. Soon, soon. I hope he's still looking for assistants this weekend?? So many things to dooooooooooo.
*Goes crazy*

Find Your Peace

Even in a chaotic time and space, we can always find serenity somewhere. We only need to learn not to overlook.

Studio: CD Cover
Brief:
A record manufacturer has requested submissions to produce a photograph for a CD front insert cover. As music is an emotional medium, the manufacturer has decided any submission must attempt to portray the emotions felt by the photographer whilst listening to the featured track, but at the same time it should be obvious what type of music it is (i.e. not a totally obscure image). This is an open brief, the only limitation being there is movement during exposure of either, object/s, and/or light and/or camera.
Option 1:
Option 2:
Lens:
180mm ( 4 x 5 )
Exposure:
1) 1/15th @ f8
2) 1/8th @ f8
( Splitting the exposure and focus to create the movement effect of the feathers/ fan. At the same time, making sure the feather doesn't blow out on exposure ).
Rationale:
I'm too lazy to sell it here since I presented it in class. The summarized version - Japanese female singer, slow song, contemporary. I don't even remember if the song is called "One".
After looking at it for a while, I don't really like this image. Meh. Maybe it's just late and I'm grumpy. I could try another few more crops for the image. The lecturer gave me a commercial photographer's number. He asked me to give him a call because he's looking for assistants. I'm glad for the opportunity but I need to find the time. 1st round assessment is next week!!!
